No Trace promises the Path book of interventions, 2013-2017
This book, although it was created during several years, emerged as a sequence of short breaths and is, in fact, a collection of captured moments.
Left in space, I let it cause emotional and intellectual reactions in me which I would then undertake to write into that same space. Afterwards, I would document my reaction in a manner that makes space and the reaction I had inseparable elements. Aware of the fact that I am no poet and that I am unable to make words flow, I kept writing down my first reactions which varied from made up words to haiku forms, making or at least hoping to make, in combination with space and time, these notes create a wider and deeper meaning than contained within the textual narrative. Namely, the narrative is only the first layer of this work. Its meaning is multiplied once the context of space and time of the work itself is perceived and, this being a book, the perception of the context of the neighboring page or the rest of the book.
The works were not sequenced chronologically one after another, but were paired with deeper connections, just as memories arise one after another regardless of time and space, but triggered by similar emotional states that remain in the human body.
This book or diary is, in short, a collection of temporary interventions written in public or intimate space. These interventions are written notes to myself and almost exclusively give voice to intimate deliberations and feelings within space and time which they are part of. Written down in particular spaces and on objects which contribute to my everyday routine, these pieces carry messages provoked by space, time as well as by my position within these two frames, thus making space the carrier of thoughts and time the fixator of its unity. Written down on the go, in a non-native tongue, these pieces are captured states of a man in transition, in a constant gap between yesterday and tomorrow, here and there, himself and the world.
